After surrendering to the call of the Lord at an early age, I began pastoring after graduating from Victory Baptist Seminary. In 1999, I got the call to come to Temple Baptist Church in Cullman. I have seen God move in a miraculous way over the past 17 years, as we have seen lives change and people come to know Christ.

In my spare time, I enjoy coon hunting and golfing. But above all, my heart for God and love for ministry is my main motivation in life. Tammy and I have been married for more than 23 years and we have four beautiful daughters: Jordan Whisnant, Rebecca, Brandi and Mackenzie as well as a great son-in-law, Austin Whisnant.

I was born and raised on the West Coast, spending most of my childhood and teen years in the Phoenix Metro area. In 1997, I moved to Huntsville, Al, to go to college at the University of Alabama in Huntsville to pursue a degree in Atmospheric Science. That same year, after attending Temple Baptist for several months, I trusted Christ as my savior. For the next several years, I continued to study at UAH, receiving a Bachelor’s Degree in Chemistry and Math, and then a Master Degree in Atmospheric Science. In early 2005, I felt the call to enter fulltime ministry. Just a few years later in 2007, I started full time at Temple as the Church Administrator. It has been an amazing journey thus far, and God has truly blessed not only Temple, but my family. Nancy and I have been married since 2006, and have three children, Kirsty, Dawson and Preston. In my spare time, I enjoy storm chasing and coaching, but most of all, my motivation in life is to love God and to serve Him in whatever capacity He sees fit.

I am originally from Cullman, but grew up in the Dallas/Ft. Worth area. Twenty six years ago, after marrying my wife Stacey, we moved back to Cullman to rear our children in a small town. We have three children: Ashley, 25, married to Andrew Frey; Jeff, 23, recently married to Chelcee Kelly and Cydni, 16, a junior at West Point High School.

I enjoy working with the mission’s ministry, especially getting to be a part of seeing churches planted locally, nationally and internationally. A major portion of my responsibility here is the Life Recovery ministry. This is a rewarding opportunity to have an immediate and long term influence on struggling people’s lives.

My Christian walk began on October 11, 1992, when I accepted Christ in a little country church in Salt Rock, West Virginia. I felt a calling on my life while serving at Bethel Baptist Church in Ft. Pierce, Florida. My pastor at that time was Malcolm Carter Sr.; he was a great man of God. I surrendered to the ministry in March 1998 and by August 1998, my wife Blecia and I resigned our jobs of 14 years with the City of Vero Beach and moved to North Augusta, South Carolina, with our two sons (Gerod and Tyler) to attend Victory Baptist Seminary. We remained there for four years until I graduated in 2002. At that time, my family and I moved back to Ft. Pierce to pastor Bethel Baptist Church where I pastored for year and a half. We then moved to Cullman in June 2003 to help here at Temple. I operated a painting company full time and was the Worship Pastor at Temple prior to Guest Services Pastor where God has placed me serving right where He has gifted me.

I have been leading the Worship Ministry at Temple Baptist for the past six years, and have been a worship minister for more than 20 years. At a young age, I knew God had a plan for me and music would be in that plan. But I never dreamed He would be using me in the capacity that I am in right now.

I grew up a preacher’s kid and knew I wanted to serve the Lord just as I had seen my dad do. After graduating from Hartselle High School in 1996, I attended Wallace State and Athens State on music scholarships. I was able to travel all over the country doing what I loved, singing. In 2000, I married Trina Halbrooks and a few years later we welcomed our daughter Jayla. We enjoy spending time together, golfing, running and exercising. Trina and I love leading worship

I was born and raised in Metro Atlanta. I met my wife, Katie, the summer after high school graduation. We were married the following year in July, 2000, and moved to her hometown of Cullman, AL. We began attending Temple Baptist Church in June 2003. We've served in various ministries throughout the church including worship, preschool, guest services and students. Along the way, we have been blessed with two boys, Riley and Ty.

In 2009, as I was leading the student ministry in a volunteer capacity, God changed my ministry direction that would lay the groundwork for my current ministry today. I transitioned from students to Life Groups. In June 2013, I quit my job with Cullman County to step into full-time ministry as the Life Groups Pastor here at Temple. It has been an incredible journey so far and I am looking forward to the Lord leading me to accomplish even greater things for him in the future.

Growing up a preacher’s kid, I’ve always been in church, but I did not give my life to Jesus until July 2009. I am a native of Florida (Go Gators!), but moved to Cullman in 2007. I worked/volunteered in preschool ministry for 15 years before assuming my current position as the Director of Preschool Ministry. It is my privilege to serve the Lord as the leader over our Zoo Kidz Preschool Ministry. We have a great group of kids, along with an incredible bunch of volunteers, who are committed to sharing God’s love with our babies.

I am the proud mother of two beautiful daughters, a wonderful son-n-law and thrilled to be the MeMe of two adorable grandbabies. If you’re new to Temple and I haven’t had a chance to meet you, please come by our check-in booth or stop me in passing so I can introduce myself. If you would like to know more about our preschool ministry, feel free to contact me at 256-737-0112 X108 or email me at mendy.ward@templebaptistcullman.com.

I am the Children's Pastor at Temple Baptist Church. I am married to Lacy and together we have two beautiful girls, Brooklyn and Kyleigh. I am a native of Cullman and graduated from Cullman High School. After graduating high school, I went on to earn my Bachelor of Science at the University of Alabama.

After graduation and moving back to Cullman, Lacy and I married and began our pursuit of finding a church together. Temple became our home. I received the call to help with children and was a part in the development of the children's ministry at Temple. Outside of the ministry work at church, my most rewarding opportunity is speaking about Christ in the local schools each week.

I came on staff at Temple in 2015. I uprooted my family from Panama City, Fl., exchanging the sandy white beaches for the rolling hills, and moved to Cullman. I have been married to Tracey for more than 10 years and we have two beautiful children, Adison (6) and Carter (3). I have been in student ministry for more than 10 years and received my Bachelor’s in Ministry Studies from The Baptist College of Florida. I enjoy the outdoors, so if it involves hunting, fishing, hiking, camping or swinging in a hammock, I am all about it. But most of all, I love connecting students to God and others.

I direct the ministries to middle school, high school and college age students to help them develop a faith that sticks. A big part of that effort is partnering with parents, training adult volunteers and hosting quality programs for students. I am completely humbled that I get to build relationships with students and help them develop their identity in Christ in this critical part of their life.
